Picture Post
ZzzzZz so tired and so sore. Played bball yesterday for a coupla hours... I'm so outta shape. To commemorate my out of shapeness, I give you a small picture post!

Mmmmm boiled pigs blood with liver. Awhile ago We had lunch at hunan garden (or some place with a name close to that). The soupee thing was all bubbly and gross looking so had to take a picture of it.
In general, we also had WAAYYY to much food. Egads! There were only 6 of us there too!

Over the weekend we went to the Dessert Republic! Egg puffys were my favorite but this was the places soup de jour! (I don't even know what that means...)

Last week Phil brought his GF in the office and I realized no one has ever seen where I worked... so I thought I'd take a picture for you guys. Yup... those are plants in middle of the room. We call it the "Defiant Forest". No really... we do, we even put a sticker on the big plant with the name "Defiant Forest"

Hoo-rah!
Despite the crappy weather this weekend, I still managed to enjoy myself and get some good relaxing time in. Saturday turned into yet another shopping day at Stanford. I spent the bulk of my time (and my money) at Nordstrom's, where I finally found the perfect red shoe to go with this black polka dot dress I bought awhile back and a great, all-purpose Kenneth Cole black purse that doesn't look like something every 12-year-old and her sister would be wearing this season. Pictures!
I also stopped by Crate and Barrell on a lark just to check out their furniture department and to get an idea of how much it would cost to furnish a house. Since I've yet to get my own place, I obviously have little appreciation for how much it costs to make a house liveable and comfortable. Let's just say...it can cost a lot lol. In any case, it was fun to walk the floor and get ideas for home decorating. I've even ordered a home decorating book so that when the time comes to have my own home, I'll be prepared and chock full of ideas.
After my little shopping excursion, I went over to Demian's house while he was studying and, believe it or not, I did a little web design of my own. I have no idea how to actually put my ideas into action by creating a functional webpage, but I do enjoy dorking around with designs on Photoshop and bouncing my ideas off my brilliant boy. It's probably the most creative thing I've done since I started work, and was really refreshing. To make the world right again, I let my brain decompose a bit by watching this week's episode of "LOST" and, after dinner at Ryowa, "The Guardian" with Ashton Kutcher and Kevin Costner. It wasn't a terrible movie, but man, it's really, REALLY hard to take Ashton Kutcher seriously. Especially when he's playing a type-A wannabe Coast Guard who keeps yelling out "hoo-rah!" It's not just the "Punk'd" thing--he's just not that great of an actor. As per the usual, Demian and I stayed up late AGAIN (despite our vows to go to bed earlier) to watch "SNL"...and we didn't even know who the host was this week. Some guy from "The Office" I think.
Today was pretty relaxing as well...slept in late, met Demian for breakfast at Woofie's before he went to go play ball with his boys, helped my mom run a few errands, and...DID MY OWN TAXES! Seriously--TurboTax, everybody. It's all about the TurboTax. So easy! AAAND I'm getting a refund! Woohoo!
Coming up this week...WONDERCON! Details to follow! Also, I'll hopefully get a chance to buy myself a plant for my office. I'm actually considering orchids, since according to the Stanford florist, they're pretty easy to maintain as long as you water them once a week and don't try trimming their leaves or roots. Anyway, that's all I've got for now, so happy Sunday and have a good week, everybody!

Happy New Year, Eberybody!

As you can see, piggypiggies and I get along quite swimmingly.
It's going to be a great year!

V-Day 2007
GodDAMN! That was the best Valentine's Day ever!!!
After receiving the Joseph Schmidt chocolates on Valentine's Day Eve, I thought that was it except for dinner on the big day, but noooo! Yesterday morning, our mail dude brings in this box from 1-800-Flowers containing this fantastic bouquet of red roses and calla lilies (my favorites!) in a vase. When I go to fill up the vase with flowers, one of the partners says to me, "Nice roses!" I was still in shock, so I mumbled something like "Yeah, wow, I'm so surprised!" In response, he was like, "Well, it's Valentine's Day!" To which I replied, "Well, Demian has never sent me flowers before." So then my boss says, "Awwwww!" and then announces to our office, "Everyone say, 'awwww!'" So the whole office choruses, "Awwww!" Then Jane calls out from the corner, "Why are we saying 'aw'?" Then my secretary yells out from another corner, "It's the first time Jaci's ever gotten flowers sent to her," causing everyone in the office to once again say, "Awww!" How embarrassing! Yet awesome!

Valentine's Bouquet in My Office
For the whole rest of the day, I was on cloud nine. Every time I looked at the flowers, I felt great, and my whole office filled with rose fragrance...mmm!
After work, I went over to the Palo Alto house to meet Demian for dinner, and he surprised me with yet ANOTHER gift--a sweater from Abercrombie & Fitch! Yes, I have to admit, I've sold my soul to the devil--I love A&F stuff now, and Demian got me this cute sweater that he said I could exchange for the sweatshirt I've been eyeing. I'll have to see which is cuter--I'll decide this weeekend. Anyway, off we went to The Village Pub for its prix fixe Valentine's dinner menu, which was quite the delicious. Even better than the food and the restaurant's cheesy touches (long stem rose for each table to take home, as well as a little wrapped box of petit fours) was the conversation--it was just warm and comfortable and fun. We could've been anywhere eating anything and I would've had just as good a time I think. After dinner, we went back to the Palo Alto house where I helped Demian brainstorm some ideas for his presentation due today in his ethics class and then just vegged out in front of the TV until it was way past my bedtime.
It was really the best day I've had in awhile. Thanks, Demian! You really know how to sweep a girl off her feet
Happy Valentine's Day, everyone!

Happy Valentine's Day!
AHHH! AHHH!
Happy (Early) Valentine's Day, everybody! Just had to post real quick because I am so excited about the Valentine's gift I just received at work from Demian:

It's a HUGE Joseph Schmidt chocolate heart with truffles inside! Now I can blame getting fat on Demian!

I should be in the kitchen...
Ah, what a nice weekend! Friday night after work, went to Demian's place to play Fuzion Frenzy 2 with Demian, Mikey and Mindy--so fun! I even won the tournament, through a little skill and cleverness woohahhaha! I need to practice to get better so that I can give everyone a run for their money next time as well!
Saturday was Demian's studying day, so I decided to bring over my computer, a book, and some ingredients to cook for dinner--it's been too long since I've been in the kitchen. I ended up making my speciality--penne bolognese--along with a salad of mixed greens, bosc pears, grapes, cardamom dressing, and some parmesan shavings for some saltiness. I also bought a mini strawberry and rhubarb pie for dessert from Draegers--god, their crust is so damn good! While the sauce was simmering, I watched this week's "LOST," which was jaw-dropping as usual, and did some research to put together the website Demian and I are making for this summer's Baltic cruise with the Lees. During dinner, we caught up on "Beauty and the Geek" and "Smallville"--both decent episodes. Overall, it was just a very relaxed, satisfying day.
Oh, and before I forget! Last week, Demian and I went to see Jack's Mannequin play at the Warfield--we were smart and got balcony seats, so we didn't have to experience the crush of pre-pubescent attempts at a mosh pit. One of the opening bands was pretty great--I think it may have been called The Audition--one was just okay, and one was so bad (some screamy metal band) that Demian and I got up and left the auditorioum until the freakshow was over. Jack's Mannequin was good as ever, although still not as good as Andrew's old band, Something Corporate. To our great satisfaction, though, the band played some old Something Corporate favorites, including the slow version of "Punk Rock Princess" and "She Paints Me Blue." God, I love Something Corporate--it's definitely Demian's and my favorite band of all time, and everytime I hear one of their songs played live, I am so moved--partially because the music is so good, but also partially because of all the memories Demian and I have of going to their concerts together, since college. Anyway, that part of the concert just made my evening, and gives me reason to see the band yet again--I think I've seen Something Corporate/Jack's Mannequin in concert at least five, if not six times now.
Last thing before I go watch tonite's new "Desperate Housewives"--went into A&F today looking for a belt and cute hoodie and walked out feeling ancient. All the shoppers were little middle school/high school girls that are Laguna Beach wannabes--I threw up in my mouth a little bit lol. And then I cried to myself because, dammit, I was never that cool in high school. Aw man, I'm not even that cool now.
*sob*
: : : : EDIT : : : :
Oh so it turns out the band we liked wasn't The Audition, it was Get Back Loretta. The Audition must have been one of the crappier bands.
